CAST is a graffiti writer from Sydney. He painted his first piece way back in 2000 and now reps a list of crews including MOC TKC MCKS & 53G. He is the type of writer who always seems to be painting & has panels running on the regular, wether it's in Sydney or on the other side of the world he's always getting busy! We caught up with him for a quick chat and asked for his favourite five flicks.
My first inspiration into graffiti was my older cousin doing sketches for me as a ten year old boy .. he was an 80s writer DEMO ASC ... which stood for All star cast ... where ironically later down the tracks I got my first word from CAST
2. How would you describe your style?
Big, bold and in your face. No sketch guaranteed! Definitely enjoy mixing up my colours but for me most important is taking out doors and steel sections.
3. Do you have a good chase story?
Well have to say copped a few chases over the years painting but one memory was painting the guardy at a certain first service in 2011 three coppers popped around front car with tazers drawn... after quickly reacting with a super man dive over the fence behind me that would put Clark Kent to shame! ended up running through apartments and back yards until finally hailing a cab, called the boys everyone got away sweet was pretty close for me but.
4. Looks like you have done a lot of travelling, can you tell us about a crazy mission abroad?
first thing that pops into mind and whoever knows me has probably heard it a few times, but would have to be London 2008. We were with a few infamous tube activists subbing an underground yard. After bumping heads with a few Polish writers and a few words being exchanged, they left understanding how long we had been waiting to hit the spot. After jamming a 45 minute bliss tube, we cruised out the hatch and to my amazement the street had filled with snow and was the first time I had witnessed some real snow. Just that feeling of rocking the tube and the snow till this day is something I'l never forget.
5. What motivates you to keep painting?
The rush the smell the adrenaline of creeping around train yards with good mates and the mates I have made all over the world through graffiti keeps me motivated to travel paint and keep having new adventures...
