THE BEGINNING
After many years in the signage industry I landed a new job as a large format digital print and pre-press operator. My role was to run the print room. I didn't know it at the time but this was a crucial step in setting the foundation and learning the skills for what I do today.
During those years of my life, when I wasn't stuck at work, I was mainly focussed on painting graffiti. in fact I was completely consumed by it. I would save money from my full time job, travel to new places and was always planning the next mission.
DECIDING ON A NAME
When you paint with a group of friends or your crew, it becomes more than just a piece, the wall becomes a production. As a graffiti writer you sometimes have to break the rules, take a risk and go against the system. With all this in mind I settled on the name BROKEN SYSTEM PRODUCTIONS™ shortened to BSP CLOTHING™.
THE FIRST DESIGN
March 2015. I had been working on a design in Adobe Illustrator. I had drawn an image of a Sydney Tangara Train smashing through a tv screen. I thought it was looking pretty cool and after some consideration I decided the design was good enough that it should be printed on a t-shirt for other graffiti and train obsessed people to wear.
I contacted a local screen printer and had my first run of 35 tee's printed. The prints turned out even better than I had hoped. I now had this box of crisp white tee's but had no idea how to sell them.

THE EARLY DAYS
After taking some very average product images I launched a basic website, which was completely empty except for this one t-shirt. A couple of days later I sold my first tee to a complete stranger. Over the next few years I released new designs and slowly I branched out to making beanies, hats, custom jackets and bags to carry your paint. Just like my graffiti addiction BSP took over my life and I did a deep dive into the custom clothing world.
PRINTING OUR OWN CLOTHING
Over the years we have tried a number of different suppliers and print methods. The decision to take production into our own hands didn't come lightly. While we still use other companies for custom manufacturing and things we are not experts in, the majority of our designs are now embroidered, screen or digitally printed in our Sydney studio.
WHERE WE'RE AT TODAY
BSP Clothing has come a long way since that first shirt drop. While we have grown in size we are still a self funded independent label operating out of Sydney. Our t-shirt designs are still produced in limited numbers and once they sell out, we rarely restock them. We ship orders daily and stand behind the quality of our products.
