FIVE FOR FIVE - DIZZY HIZZY

    Five questions for five flicks

    Featured artist - DIZZY HIZZY

DIZZY HIZZY is a graffiti writer from Sydney. He started painting in the early 2000's and since then he has travelled, painted, moved cities and back again. His style is funky with fun illustrations, loads of connections and an all round chill vibe. We caught up to find out a bit more about him and asked for his favourite five flicks.

    1. How and where did you get into graffiti?

Growing up in Belconnen, Canberra in the 90's there was a lot of quality squiggles and colourful paintings to admire while riding the BMX. Whenever I went to a new city like Sydney or Melbourne I would just catch the train around and explore. In early High school there were a few older cronies that inspired me to start and when I saw my first panels I got Z-BUG.

    2. How would you describe your style and who were your influences?

    Cheap, nimble and fun.
I like looking at different eras from areas that paved the way like 1970s/80s NYC,1990s London, 2000s Scandinavian, 2010s Parisian, Sao Paulo and Brazil in general is mind blowing plus all the local heroes/friends.

    3. You've spent a fair few years living in Melbourne, how do you find painting there compared to Sydney?

Really different vibes, Great city with various styles with chill people. A lot of grey areas compared to Sydney so easy to just jam whenever-Can't wait to go back :)

    4. Do you have a good chase story?

A spot in Brisbane got a new cage without security and got absolutely smashed for a while, We did it no problems and went back again the next night for 3x E2Es only to see torchlight's from different angles with barking dogs arriving quickly, every one scatted up in the bush only to re unite somehow, we took a taxi and talk back radio was on describing that the whole train line was closed due to police activity.

We got back to our cars and a cop drove past randomly and spontaneously asked questions-Lucky we didn't have anything on us and there was a football in the car to explain why we all had sweaty t-shirts ;)
