MANE is a graffiti writer from Perth. He first got into graffiti back in 2009 and since then has concentrated on painting steel around Australia and abroad. We caught up to find out a bit more about him and asked for his favourite five flicks.
1. What got you into graffiti?
Growing up graffiti always caught my eye. It wasn't until I started skateboarding some years later. Through skateboarding I met a bunch of like minded people who were into painting and I started from there. Haven’t looked back since.
2. How would you describe your style?
I would say my style is extremely simple. Growing up in Perth we never seemed to have long to paint at spots so I just tried to adapt. Its not for everyone but I like it.
3. Do you have a good chase story?
I would say I have been pretty lucky when it comes to chases. I cant think of a time where I have had a serious chase. There have been plenty of moments when it has been "time to go" and lots of close calls.
4. Looks like you have done a lot of travelling, can you tell us about a memorable mission abroad?
One memorable mission would have to be a team up whole car we did on the Amsterdam metro. We rode the train in, jumped out and painted on the platform. This was at about midday and the station was pretty busy. The passengers looked confused as to what was going on, they seemed impressed by what they were looking at, I can’t really speak for them though. Haha
5. What motivates you to keep painting?
The fun of being out there with your friends. Also the new friendships you make along the way and the new places you get to visit (not to mention the weird situations you find yourself in).
